But in addition to the quest ones, there are also purely gameplay mods that allow you to try on various professions. For example, you can become a hunter and earn money from the sale of fur, the owner of the copperovarny, bard, pirate, courtesan or rentier.
But of course, before plunging into all this, it is necessary not only, according to the testaments of Todd Howard, to buy Skyrim, but also install the mods themselves. Moreover, sometimes, this is not as simple and obvious as it might seem at first glance. I must say that there is a category of people (moreover, perhaps not small), for which the process of installing mods on the fifth scrolls, as well as further fuss so that the modified game is launched correctly, is already a kind of entertainment.
Of course, some can scare away the process of a long installation, but believe me, the result is worth it. I know that on the Internet you can find a lot of guides on this issue, but here we will try to make out the also emerging problems and errors related to the modification of Skyrim.
1. SKSE and the standard installation method (not recommended)
But before you start all this, it is necessary to make the most important thing, namely, put the latest version of SKSE (Skyrim Script Extender). Moreover, pay attention to which publication you need to put it for the legendary or special. However, this reservation concerns absolutely all mods. Although usually on most sites, mods for Legendary and Special are in different sections, but still, better pay attention to this.
I note that SKSE is vital for the vast majority of other mods, with rare exceptions.
So, for starters, you need to find the folder itself with Skyrim. If you have a Steam version, then you need to find the Steamlibrary folder, and make the next way: Steamlibory \ Steamapps \ Common \ Skyrim. Well, or otherwise, get to the Skyrim folder, if you did not purchase the game in Steam, but, let’s say, on third -party sites.
Further, from the downloaded archive with SKSE files, we throw everything, of course, except for Reidmy files and descriptions of updates, to the game folder, that is, in the Skyrim folder itself. I ask you to pay attention, not to the Data folder, but in the Skyrim folder. Further, it will be very important.

Now the SKSE_Loader file appeared in the game folder itself, from now on, we will run the game through it and only through it. You can make a shortcut of this file and send to the desktop, for convenience, and for beauty you can replace the standard icon of the default program, with Skyrim’s icon through properties, but this is not necessarily.
Now, you, at the initial level, have mastered the basic principle of installing mods for Skyrim, “just take all the files and throw their folder with the game”. Only unlike SKSE, the vast majority of modifications must be moved not to the Skyrim folder, but to the Data folder located already in it. That is, the full installation path will look like this: Steamlibory \ Steamapps \ Common \ Skyrim \ Data (this, again, for the Stimov version). Depending on the decision of the author of the mod, or on the solution of the site on which it is posted, in the downloaded archive, there may be both fashion files and files posted in the Data folder. In the first case, just throw everything in Data, in the second – open the Data folder (which in the archive) and throw it in Data (which in the Skyrim folder). But in no case do not throw the Data folder in Data. Check, if you have another Data folder inside you, then you were mistaken somewhere.
Now, after installing the models we need, they must be activated. This can be done by starting the game launcher and going to the “Files” section. There you need to put a checkplace opposite the mod, which you want to activate, most mods are turned off in the same way. Here, in the “Files” section, you can change the procedure for loading mods, putting them higher or lower in the list, for which we will talk later.
2. Installation using a mod manager (recommended method)
But there is one “but”. The installation method given above is standard, but not recommended. At the moment, there is a more convenient and practical solution, namely, models of mods. I myself use NMM (Nexus mod Manager), which I advise you
For the most part, in terms of functionality, mod managers are not very different from each other. So choose to taste.
To do this, you do not need, first of all, of course, to download NMM itself from the Nexus website (or from other resources), to install it (installed as a regular program).
Next, we launch NMM, at the first launch, the program invite you to scan a computer in order to find the way to the games you have installed, you can wait for the search end (which can take a considerable time), and independently set your way to the game you need. One way or another, after the NMM “saw” what games are on the device, just put a box in front of those in which you want to add mods. From now on, when the NMM is launched, the window offers the window to go to the section of a particular game will first pop up, or to open the data on the computer again. In our case, of course, we choose Skyrim.
So, we finally opened the Nexus Mod Manager program, now it will be our General Staff, a hab-location or call it, as you want, in general, as you already understood, this is one of the main programs for installing mods on Skyrim.
With downloading the mods themselves, there should not be any problems either, I would have said more recently if some had not discouraged me in this. So now we will figure out how to download Nexus’s mods. So, for starters, you must definitely register on the site, I think you can handle it without me (I really hope for it). Further, in the section with mods, find the page you need and go to the Files tab. Here, in the Main Files section, there are two buttons, Mod Manager Download and Manual Download, these are, in fact, two options for how you can download and install a mod.
The first, this is a direct installation from the site to the game, that is, with this option, the files from the site are loaded immediately to the game folder, but connect the mod, you still need to be from the mod manager (more than that). The second option is to download the fashion files with one archive, after which you can either independently throw fashion files into the game folder (that is, the standard method), or to use the fashion manager again.
Now let’s see how to install mods using NMM. In the upper left corner, just below the large inscription “Launch Skyrim”, you can see two tabs “Plugins” and “Mods”, now we are interested in the second, and click on it and click on it. Now, finding ourselves on the tab we need, we go down a little lower and go to the buttons on the left panel. Now we need the upper one, depending on the NMM version, its icon may vary, but in a pop -up hint, the inscription “Add mod from fil”. Now we click on the icon, a window appears in which you need to open the folder where you have archives with downloaded mods (most likely it is “downloading”, but it all depends on your desire), click on the necessary archive (or several) and click “open”. Naturally, from a folder with uploaded files, you need to install mods only if you use the version of Manual Dawnload (that is, the second)
Now go to a large list of folders that is difficult not to notice. Opposite one of them, the “plusik” icon was supposed to appear. We choose this folder, the names of the unidentified mods in it will be marked with gray and without a checkmark near the name. Choose unidentified mods, now, even lower than the “Add Mod From File” button, the button acquired the appearance of a green checkmark, click on it. Further, NMM will set the mod itself on your Skyrim, you can check it on the Plugins tab. If before that, when downloading from the nexus, you have chosen the Mod Manager Download version, then we pass the stage with the folder. With this option, immediately after loading from the site, you need to go to the plug -in list.
Finally, we can engage in installing not only “official” mods, but try to put gameplay. So, my choice fell on Frostfall, adding a mod to the northern province of Tamriel, a logical thing, namely frosts, now our Dovakin will not be able to run naked along the icy expanses of the White Coast.
Now that we already know how to install mods using NMM, we repeat the procedure described above. We put the Frostfall mod. Only you need to take into account one moment, it itself will not start, because it requires another mod – Campfire. This is usually indicated in the requirements. But also, this can be seen if you go to the Plugins tab. Here you can see that if you do not have Campfire, in the Frostfall list is highlighted in red, orange – if it is installed, but not connected, otherwise, it will not be allocated from the general list.
Please pay special attention to this moment. With the help of the MCM mod, you can also go into the emerging menu of models of mods if you need a more smooth regulation of the functionality of the fashion. In fact, these are three large sets of textures that replace standard.
In the process of installing these mods, there is nothing unusual and everything was described above. Then why did I mention them separately? To demonstrate another necessary NMM function.
Let’s in order. To begin with, we will install the Winter Skyrim mod, but when, according to the Tamriel calendar, the month of the first grain will come and spring will come, respectively, and we will have to put the appropriate mod. But in this case, you should not install one pack of textures, on top of another. First, we need to remove the previous.
To do this, we go to the NMM to the MODS tab already familiar to us and select the mod that you want to remove, click on the right mouse button and select “Delete”, the program will continue to do everything itself. Again, I note that a simple shutdown of the mod in the launcher will not give the necessary effect. Now you know how to install graphic, gameplay and quest mods. But after all, it would be nice to improve the appearance of the character. And besides, it would be nice to add physics to the hair and some parts of female anatomy, if you understand what I mean. There is nothing unusual in the process of installing such mods. But the vast majority of modifications affecting animation or body physics require a new skeleton for the character.

We also need fnis. And about this point you need to make a small explanation. The fact is that fnis is not a mod, but a separate program, such as the modelor of mods.
Only in this case, she is responsible precisely for new animations and behavior of bodies. After the installation of any of the mods affecting these aspects of the game, you will need to open FNIS and start update. Actually, FNIS is installed in a standard way, through the installer or manually. And to start it, you need to find the Tools folder in the game folder and run fnifforusers in it.
Of all the points provided, in the list that opened, I used only the “hand fixed” (second from above). Honestly, the needs for the rest have never arisen. As I understand it, some of them are necessary only in very specific cases, if you, for example, love animals, so to speak, love animals very much. And do not rush to blame me for all sorts of strange addictions, since some mods from this “line” really deserve attention. 4. Installation ENB

I will not burst out about all the advantages of this type of modifications, especially since many did it. So, as I said, carefully read the item “Requirements” before installing mods. Most problems with the launch of mods can be prevented by simply carefully studying the section “Requirements”, which is always present on all sites in the description.
