How to get to Halkidiki

By Car:

The Egnatia Motorway (Egnatia Odos), which crosses Greece from its westernmost edge – Italy (Igoumenitsa) – to its easternmost borders with Turkey (Kipi, Evros), is a modern motorway of international standards, equipped with devices and safety systems that aim at protecting and helping the motorists. Egnatia Odos meets the Ring Road of Thessaloniki which leads to the National Road towards Halkidiki.

From Thessaloniki’s ring road you follow the direction Chalkidiki. Then you follow the direction signs for: N.Moudania > Sithonia > Nikiti > N.Marmaras > Toroni.>Porto Koufo. Total km: 150, estimated time 1h30m.

At the end of Toroni’s village Porto Koufo begins and you will see the first sign of Asterias hotel. Asterias hotel is at the end of the village on the left.

By Bus:

All of Chalkidiki’s villages and beaches are accessible by bus from Thessaloniki. Routes are daily and several times during the day. KTEL Chalkidiki’s Information: Thessaloniki station +30 2310 316555, 2310 316565.

Porto Koufo has two bus stations. You have to get off at the second station which is on the main road. Hotel Asterias is 50 meters away.

By Airplane:

The National Airport “MACEDONIA” of Thessaloniki is connected to the biggest towns in Greece and Europe on a daily basis (). Information on departures and arrivals +30 2310 – 985000

Taxis and buses take you from the airport to the Coach Station of Halkidiki (KTEL) in Thessaloniki. Bus number 79 drives you from Macedonia airport to Ikea station. From Ikea station you transfer to bus number 36 to Halkidiki coach station.

By Train:

There is no train network in Halkidiki. Travellers coming by train from other parts of Greece or from abroad arrive at the Train Station of Thessaloniki. After arriving at the Train Station of Thessaloniki, take a taxi or the bus to reach to the Coach Station of Halkidiki (KTEL), in Thessaloniki, and then take the coach to reach Halkidiki.
